Glamorous New Rochelle Wedding | Ayesha + Steve | Surf Club on the Sound

Featured on Essence!

It's still hard to believe that a whole year has passed since the amazing wedding day of our "Victorious Couple" Ayesha and Steve. It feels like just yesterday that my team & I witnessed them exchanging heartfelt vows and participated in the epic party that followed. May 16, 2019 is a day we will never forget!

But before we hop into the rest of the wedding details, let's take a trip down memory lane with Ayesha and Steve's modern fairytale love story.

Ayesha called it fate when she ran into the guy she was secretly following on My Space when she applied for a job at a local Duane Reade pharmacy. Little did she know that she would be meeting her future husband Steve. Their relationship blossomed and not only did it develop into true love, but they also became the best of friends. Steve proposed to Ayesha during what she assumed would be a private dinner. When she arrived, she saw Steve along with 40 of their closest family and friends with sparklers in hand. Steve even hired a singer to perform "Never Felt This Way" by Brian McKnight, the same song featured in Ayesha's favorite episode of the TV show Martin when Martin proposed to Gina. Of course she said, "YES, YES, YES!" and their journey down the aisle began.

Surf Club on the Sound in New Rochelle, New York is a truly enchanting venue. From the moment you enter its gates you can see its charm in every detail -- from the fountain-lined driveway, to the grandeur of the double staircase in the marble foyer, to the breathtaking views of the Long Island Sound.

Ayesha’s wedding day look was absolutely flawless with the expertise of beauty gurus Abby of Juicy Looks and Mohan of Modimel Salon, and her modified Femi gown from Pantora Bridal fit like a glove. She and her bridesmaids came to slay!

Officiated by my good friend and colleague Reverend Roxanne Birchfield — aka Married by Rev. Roxy — the ceremony was absolutely perfect, including the amazing weather. Rev. Roxy delivered a stellar ceremony customized with the couple’s love story that kept everyone in attendance captivated. We even incorporated live music by having saxophonist Tyrone Benjamin serenade guests as they entered the ceremony space, and vocalist Schadrack singing "Love" by Musiq Soulchild during the unity candle lighting. Every element was intentional and full of purpose.

The design of Ayesha and Steve’s wedding incorporated the classic color palette of black, white and gold. We partnered once again with floral designer Yomaris of Diva Blooms who put together some truly outstanding decor. And since their wedding kicked off Haitian Flag Day, it was only right they had DJ Ricky Bonds of Pulse Sounds turn their reception into a real fete complete with Haitian flags, glowing foam sticks, and Co2 cannons. Did I mention they had stilt walkers?! There’s no denying this was a night to remember.
